Introduction: The Night I First Understood the True Meaning of Wazifa
I was 28 years old at the time. I had lost my job, there was tension at home, and I couldn’t sleep. One night, as I was returning from the mosque, the Maulana said, “Son, just recite a wazifa. It’s the remembrance of Allah’s name; there’s no greater remedy.” What is a Wazifa?
I laughed and said, “Maulana Sahib, I’ve prayed a lot, but nothing happens.”
He smiled and said, “There’s a difference between prayer and wazifa. Prayer is asking for something, while wazifa is reciting Allah’s name in a specific way – a certain number of times, at a certain time, with a certain intention.”
That night I started my first wazifa – simply reciting “Ya Latifu” eleven times. What happened 40 days later changed my life.

Wazifa is an Arabic word meaning – “reciting Allah’s names or verses in a specific number for a specific purpose.”
It’s not magic or sorcery. It’s a practice derived from the Quran and Hadith that our elders have been practicing for centuries.
The Difference Between Wazifa, Dua, and Taweez
- Dua → Asking for anything in your own words
- Wazifa → Reciting specific names or verses a specific number of times in a specific way
- Taweez → Writing and wearing it around the neck (which is permissible in Sharia if it contains verses from the Quran)

Surah Waqiah – Daily between Maghrib and Isha
